Every year, we take a week as a family to celebrate the upcoming summer with a trip to the beach. We tend to go a little earlier for a couple reasons:
- To Avoid the Crowds – Travel season gears up at Memorial Day, and so it is nice to get there before everyone else and to enjoy the sun and sand with a little bit more room between our umbrellas and beach towels laid out.
- To Avoid the Sun – Yeah yeah yeah I get that this makes little sense, but as someone who is fair skinned and heat adverse – I gotta say, the month of May is where it is at. It’s only getting hotter from here, and by that time I don’t even want it.
So by going early we can be one of the lucky few in the warm (but not too hot) sand and sun.
I also feel like packing on vacation is an interesting thing, especially to the beach. I want things to be comfortable (obv.) low effort (not require steaming or ironing) and have the little bit of vacation vibe. I’m not one to go full floral Hawaiian print set just to prove to everyone “I’m on vacation” but, rather love the subtle coastal vibes that will work just as well by the ocean as it will at home.
